Graduation!

On May 9th, 2013, Alex graduated from ASU with her Master's in Management from the W.P. Carey School. This program is the core classes of an MBA, shortened to nine months. She loved each of her classes, even economics and statistics, and even more so the professors and fellow class mates with whom she associated.

She is 7 months pregnant, and is definitely feeling it toward the end!

Her plans upon graduating? Stay at home to raise our children. I couldn't think of a more qualified woman for the job, neither a more job well-suited to utilizing her talents.

Washington, D.C.

In June, Marc had a business conference in Washington, D.C., and since it is only one of his very favoritest places in the world, of course I had to go with him! We went up a few days early so we could do some sight seeing together. We stayed at the Gaylord Hotel right across the Potomac from Mount Vernon. We loved every minute of walking through history as we admired the home of the first President of the United States.

Our rainy day tour of the capitol was especially excellent given that Marc used to give tours when he was an intern on the Hill! Though we were on a tour with an intern, Marc ended up showing us more of the capitol than the intern had even seen! I sure do love to see my main man in his element, and boy was he ever in the Capitol!

We also visited Georgetown, where Marc lived during his time on the Hill. We ate at Clyde's, his favorite lunch spot, and walked around the stunning campus of Georgetown University.

Another highlight of the trip for this pregnant lady (35 weeks!) was the s'mores they served at the conference. Do they not look absolutely heavenly? That right there is a s'more truffle, one of the most refined s'mores this girl ever did see.

Just before returning home, we made a trip to the D.C. temple. It was a glorious experience to be in our favorite place (temple) at our favorite place (D.C.)!

As a last minute get-away before our son arrived, we decided to escape up north to Sedona for the weekend of the 4th of July. The stunning landscape proved to be a perfect backdrop for our even more last-minute maternity pictures, which Marcus captured with a remote and his camera on a tripod. Talk about talent! And talk about last minute- Alex was 38 weeks pregnant!

We had an absolutely splendid time paroozing around the little town of Sedona, and especially visitng the shops in Tlaquepaque square. The red rock of the area provided endless photo-ops, so we were frequently pulling U-turns, exploring back roads, and stopping the car to get just about every stunning shot we came across.

Boy, do we look forward to bringing our son to Sedona to share Arizona's unique beauty with him!

We love Arizona - our first trip to Sedona

I was born 7.5 lbs and 20.5 inches long in July.

I am a 7th Generation Arizonan!

I have a really cool name....

Charles -  is a distant relative who was a hero and a favorite friend of the early folks of Snowflake, AZ.

Elmer - is my daddy's grandpa's first name and my mommy's great-grandpa's first name.

They were all very special and hard-working men. I can't wait to learn more about them and try to be like them.

I love my family and boy am I spoiled!

WELCOME!  - - - - Charles Elmer Johnson

Charlie's Blessing at Church

On Sunday, September 22, Charles Elmer Johnson was given his name and blessing in the Evergreen ward. We were surrounded by friends and family, a perfect day!

There's no place like home... We've moved!

Milton Berle was quoted as saying, "If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door." In our good fortune, opportunity not only knocked, we also built a door! We raised the roof, moved walls, and more, in what became a stunning transformation of a home. We absolutely LOVE our home. It has great bones, which allowed us the flexibility to change as much as we did.

In truth, I married a visionary man. His keen eye for potential is unrivaled, and is the source for the masterpiece that came together. It was a busy 2 1/2 months and was certainly a to-do with a newborn.

In November, we moved from the Evergreen ward in the Tempe stake to the Shalimar ward in the same stake. We really miss Evergreen ward. The experiences there built the foundation for the marriage we now enjoy. And we love the Shalimar ward! We have a sincere love and admiration for the members of the Tempe Stake.

After - quite the transformation!
